Bonita Betters-Reed, “Bonnie” (she/her/hers) is a Professor Emerita at Simmons University Business School where she is also a Faculty Affiliate for their Center for Gender in Organizations. Bonnie uses pronouns she/her/hers. Throughout her career, Bonnie has sought principled leadership and governance positions at organizations committed to social justice and the alleviation of poverty and inequality. Her deep sense of organizational responsibility, work ethic and insight into diversity started at a very young age growing up in an entrepreneurial family business; later serving as a Director of Betters International Food Corporation for 3 decades. Among her numerous past board memberships are A.J. Brugger Foundation in Nicaragua, The Asperger Autism Network, Union Church in Waban and SUNY Potsdam Foundation Trustee. Bonnie’s scholarship has focused on leadership studies of sociallyminded organizations and their leaders through a multicultural feminist and inclusive lens. She continues to serve as a strategic organizational consultant dedicated to improving leadership effectiveness and nonprofit organizations that, like GELC, desire transformational change. Bonnie is a parent in a neurodiverse family. Bonnie received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Behavior from Boston College, M.S.in College Student Personnel (Counseling) from Bowling Green State University and B.A. in English from SUNY Potsdam.
